Assignment 1 Progress

Added furniture

Adding ceiling while making the opening for the stair

Upside down pyramid in the making with parts already deleted(as it will submerge with other primitives)

wedge with walls and room extruded

placing the wedge in position

The pyramid placed on top of the rectangle and parts submerged

Area Calculations

Rectangular Prism:
Hallway 1.5x9.25 = 13.88m ²
Lounge 3.23x4.5 = 14.54m ²
Kitchen 3x6 = 18m ²
Dining 3x4.24 = 12.72m ²
Laundry 3x1.26 = 3.78m ²
Guest 3.23x4.01 = 12.95m ²
Guest Bath 2x4.01= 8.02m ²
Living 4.02x4.01 = 16.12m ²

Pyramid:
Mini Living (5.9x4.93)-(1.29x3.31) = 24.81m ²
Walkway to master 5.37x1.77 = 9.5m ²
Master (4x 7.42)-(2.5x2.93) = 22.36m ²
Ensuite 2.5x2.93 = 7.36m ²

Wedge:
Bed 1 (5.73x2.89)/2 = 8.54m ²
Bed 2 2.97x4 = 11.88m ²
Kid’s Bath 3.03x2.89 = 8.76m ²

Total Area = 193.22m ²

Wk 4 Studio Exercise 3

Brick Weave House

Initial works

Weekly Progress

Chosen primitive combo: Rectangle, Pyramid, Wedge

I decided to swap the position of the wedge and pyramid and turned the pyramid upside down. Half of the rectangle will be submerged and just in the ground not in use.

Basic measurements of the rectangular prism

Walls sectioning the rooms- half of the prism is deleted because I did not want an underground level

Top part of 6m long will be the basic height of the pyramid when transformed and the wedge will be the bottom half

Detail of the wedge with the 2 kids room and one mid share bath

Wk3 Primitive Design Experiment+ dimensions

Exp 1: This first combination, I played around with the simple shapes mixing curves and angular shapes. I tilted the the cube and the triangular prism from the cylinder on ground level. The different angles create an interesting shape which is unique and not conventional.

Exp 2: This primitive combination is more angular based and combines into one shape. All the prism are connected in some way and I manipulated the pyramid on an angle which creates an interesting shape.

Extended manipulation and adjusting placement: I developed Exp2 and changed the cube into a triangular prism and also adjusted the location of the manipulated pyramid tobe on top of the rectangular box.

Exp 3 This primitive I combined the cylinder, triangular prism and the cube together. The idea behind this combination is a clock design. The base of the structure is the cube and with the cylinder place in it. I played around with the position of the triangular prism and made it look like the dial of the clock.

Chosen Designer: Studio Gang Architects

Marble Curtain

I chose Studio Gang Architects for this exercise because their designs are very modern, contemporary and unique. It is also somewhat futuristic which I like and I am just fascinated by it. The ideas and shapes of the architecture defy the conventional architectures and so, it is aesthetically pleasing and yet more functional for the present world. Environmental factors are also very influential to their designs so their projects will enhance the world for the better. An example of their work which is not a building captured my attention, the Marble Curtain with the jigsaw design in unique colours is very fascinating.
